Activities Stuffs
Okay, so we missed posting about 2 events in the past few weeks that we attended, but we're posting now before our next 2 (over the next two days, today included!). I'll try to be somewhat brief before the mutant dust bunnies from Easter find me (hmm, maybe I should claim that being why there've not been posts recently). So lets go in chronological order over our free (well, free at event-time) activities:
- Several weeks ago we went to see a preview of the night-time showing of Blue Horizons, the dolphin show at Sea World. Our initial intended guests (we could take 2 more) had to cancel, so on a whim t thought of Drel down near where sie works and he was happy to go (though we couldn't think of a 2nd guest). We wanted dinner before attending, since all we'd get there would be fountain water and Shamu ice-cream bars, so we sought out a place called Harry's we had a coupon for, after the first place we intended to go to in downtown was closed. Well, a block from where the place was, we found a different Harry's (t knew it wasn't the one for the coupon), but we went in anyway. Their chicken fingers platter was huge (t wished sie'd selected that) and the rest was good stuff, too, though t was a touch unprepared for the kick of the basic spices they do (it was a New Orleans-themed restaurant). The dinner was good, the show was good (though they were still figuring out a few things on lighting and therefore one 5-10 second element was excluded) and we can't wait to see final productions starting this week when the park is open into the night.
- This past Thursday, Sea World let us in to see another preview, this time Shamu Rocks, the night-time Shamu show which this year includes a live guitarist. We got free ice-cream (a few more types this time) and a soda for our wait. They'd expected maybe 2-3k people to show, we probably had 5k, but there was some seating to spare (mostly in the Splash Zone, of course!). It was a touch loud for t, but not much plugging the ears. Slith's family were the guests and seemed to enjoy it, too. It was their final dress-rehearsal and was fantastic; even the calf was doing it's best in mimicking mama, and the adolescents were doing well too in their roles. There were even some new & exciting tricks. We're curious if these will be Shamu Rocks exclusives or if it'll make it into the regular Believe show.
- Two months ago, ticket sales opened for reserved seating at the Cypress Gardens amphitheater. On the second day of sales, the closest we could consecutive seats get was Row I, Section C (there were a few closer seats at the very ends, but likely poor visibility) for today's Weird Al concert. It starts in a few hours, but there's still about 2 hours until park open. Between open and concert, t plans on lots of Bumper Cars practice while Slith may join hir, or play in the waterpark area up in the back. This will be our second Al concert (first was at House of Blues at Downtown Disney during the Poodle Hat tour). We're definitely Al fans and can't wait to see what we have in store for us (muchless how they're doing seating control; we've not reserved for a concert here before, since anywhere behind the few rows of seats are free w/ admission). Yay for the only Al concert in central Florida being where we already have season passes (though not for concert seating). Now the question will be: Do we eat in the park for lunch, or walk across the street to the Ruby Tuesdays they built a couple months ago?
- Tomorrow we plan on heading up to Micky's Retreat to volunteer for another Disney Cast-and-family-only event. We're probably going to be carrying or pulling carts with various restocking supplies for whatever activities they're running. Gee, we thought they liked our parking job during Easter *shrug.*
